  Nathaniel Ford------- Memorial Pictures

Nate Ford has passed away due to a massive heart attack. Nate was in all likelihood the most popular and well-liked firefighter in the SFD. He had a quick smile, always sought after opinion and an incredible way of making common sense the answer to most dilemmas. As the  “Sultan of Air 9”, Nate had the vehicle, and permission to travel the city and spread his love and wisdom… Nate was a dedicated father and husband; his family was the most important thing in his life. Nate constantly talked about the boys and Gwen adoringly. No matter where he was, what he was doing, or who he was with Nate had an uncanny ability to make the situation much better than it was. Nate genuinely cared about people, no matter how boring your conversation was for Nate you still left with the feeling that he listened and he cared. We’ll miss Nate’s easygoing manner, his love of people, his big smile, contagious laugh and dedication. Nate worked over 20 years in the SFD at Station 25 and Station 9 and left a legacy at both.  He was a warrior fighting house fires; firefighters knew their back was protected when entering a house fire with Nate. On aid runs Nate’s experience, training and instinct were more than evident in the business of life saving. Cancer raised its ugly head in Nate’s life and he won the battle, it wasn’t an easy one, his stories about the pain accompanying the treatment was enough to make you cringe. He was truly a mentor to the younger brothers and sisters and a brother to the rest of us. WE LOVE YOU NATE, We miss you already.  Our prayers go abundantly to Nate’s family…God bless you

... You will be missed my brother
